Passion & Purpose

Women beholding the beauty of God through Jesus Christ and awakened to the wonder of becoming like Him

 (2 Corinthians 3:18).

Through teaching, speaking, and writing, Adoring Christ invites women globally to experience the glorious nature of God and His grand design of re-creating them into His divine likeness through Jesus Christ.

The most fundamental truths of the human life are stated in 2 Corinthians 3:18: "And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit." There are four truths in this verse that form the foundations of our ministry. Let us tell you about them below:

Becoming Women in Wonder of God

Why do we long for grand and glorious things like love, beauty, power, knowledge, security, and fame? Because these things describe God who is glorious. And he made us in his image to know him and be like him in a human way.

We want to awaken you to the wonder of God by focusing your eyes on his great and good character traits revealed in Scripture. We want to teach you how to be like David in the Bible who knew God's character and called upon God to be his God on the street level of life. And we want to help you to begin wrapping your mind around God's profound design for you.

When God made all things, he decided to make a creature similar to himself--humanity! God designed you to know him and live like him in a human way. This should take your breath away as it does the author of Genesis 1:27. Living in view of God's glory and his splendor stamped on you changes everything.

When the eyes of our hearts are opened to see God and live in wonder of Him, the hunger in our hearts for greatness and goodness is satisfied through a dynamic relationship with Him. Becoming women who see God's splendor stamped on every man, woman, and child revolutionizes the way we view ourselves and others. And understanding how we are designed to be like God imparts thrilling purpose into all seasons of our lives. We want to help you grow into these rich benefits more and more each day.

    Becoming Glorious Ruins

The novel Les Miserables is a French masterpiece that portrays the miseries in life. The book was adapted into a musical, giving birth to a song entitled, I Dreamed a Dream. The lyrics illustrate brokeness that has entered the world:

There was a time when love was blind

And the world was a song

    And the song was exciting

    There was a time

    Then it all went wrong.

We all know that our lives fall far short of the grand existence we long for and seek to obtain. The Bible is a book of truth that points us to the reasons for our ruins. Genesis 3 teaches that humanity sinned against God. And Romans 3:23 describes sin as “falling short of the glory of God.” In other words, due to sin humanity fell short and keeps falling short of God’s character and splendor that we were designed to cherish and reflect.

Humanity did not lose God's image upon us after the Fall; however, as the rest of Scripture shows, God's image has become deformed upon us. We are devoted to helping women understand why we fall short and keep falling short of God's grand design for us so we can escape our ruins through Jesus Christ, be reconciled back to the all-glorious God, and be transformed into His beautiful likeness more and more each day.

    Becoming Alive to Beauty

God's grace was put on display in a stunning way after humanity sinned against him. Instead of leaving us in our ruins, he sent his Son Jesus Christ to lead many people back to glory (Hebrews 2:10).

Jesus Christ is the most unique person in history. Why? He is both God and man (Colossians 1:15, 19; John 14:9). When we see Jesus we see God who we were designed to cherish and imitate. And when we see Jesus we see the perfect human we were designed to be like. God's design for salvation is supreme and stunning! It centers on seeing and adoring Jesus Christ whose grandeur and beauty silences the human heart. And while beholding the beauty of his person and work is bountiful enough, he calls us and empowers believers through the Holy Spirit, to participate in his glory by living like him! C.S. Lewis helps us to consider the importance of beholding Jesus and becoming like him:

"It is a serious thing to live in a society of possible gods and goddesses, to remember that the dullest most uninteresting person you talk to may one day be a creature which, if you saw now, you would be strongly tempted to worship, or else, a horror and a corruption such as you now meet, if at all, only in a nightmare. All day long we are, in some degree helping each other to one or the other of these destinations."

God made us for a grand purpose for which we have all failed. Now all people are moving toward one of two destinations. When we say "destinations" we are not just talking about a place--heaven or hell--we are talking about a state of being for time without end. Some people are being re-created into the image of God through Jesus Christ and when his work is completed we will be such glorious creatures that as Lewis said, if we saw now, some would be strongly (and we would add wrongly) tempted to worship. But others will become such horrors that our best frame of reference now is what we see in nightmares. The process is currently taking place in each of our lives! Some are becoming more glorious day by day while others are progressing in their decay--no one is staying the same.

We agree with Lewis that your salvation and transformation is serious business. Therefore, we want to help you step into the dawn of a new day by receiving life through Jesus Christ. We want to help you live in deep adoration of Jesus. And teach you how to be re-created into the divine image little by little, degree by degree, glory by glory.

    Becoming Heavenly

The Bible makes the astonishing claim that believers will be restored to the divine glory that was lost after humanity's Fall. Romans 5:2 identifies the Christian’s hope as “the glory of God.” In other words, our hope or confident expectation for the future is that we will see the glory of God (receiving the ultimate satisfaction of our hearts) and radiate the glory of God through our lives as perfect image-bearers.

1 Corinthians 2:9 says no eye has seen nor the heart imagined what God has prepared for those who love him. Nevertheless, God has given us glimpses of future glory in Scripture to call our hearts heavenward with him. Therefore, we want to awaken your mind and affections to the golden life to come because it will change the way you live in this perishing world.

In sum, God is glorious and designed humanity for a weight of glory. Due to sin we have become more like glorious ruins. But God has a stunning plan for salvation that begins with the forgiveness of our sins and continues through the recreation of deformed image-bearers into His dignified design for us, which will be perfected in the age to come.

Therefore, the mission of Adoring Christ is to help women behold the beauty of God in Jesus Christ through biblical teaching so that we can progressively become more like him. These 4 truths form the foundations of everything we do at Adoring Christ Ministries.

We would love to tell you more about the human story and how to walk in God's grand design for your life through the book Adoring Christ. These pages unfold the rich concepts of 2 Corinthians 3:18 that are introduced above.
